Health Economics – Modeling and Simulation

Our Modeling and Simulation experts design, build and implement models that describe complex medical processes and therapies to:

  • Understand and evaluate the implications of clinical trials
  • Demonstrate the value of an intervention beyond its efficacy
  • Assess benefits and risks associated with healthcare interventions
  • Assess pricing scenarios
  • Inform strategic planning and product development

With more than 25 years of modeling experience, the health economics team has developed more than 200 economic models across multiple therapeutic areas and countries.

Role

We are looking for a Research Associate II to join our Modeling and Simulation team within the Health Economics department. You will:

Implement one or more of the following under direction:

  • Model design development
  • Model programming
  • Conduct basic statistical or other analyses
  • Conduct literature reviews with emphasis on extracting data pertinent to economic evaluations
  • Handle other study design elements
  • Maintain and develop scientific resources

Draft project deliverables (reports, dossiers, protocols, spreadsheets, etc) and draft abstracts and sections of manuscripts with possible co-authorship.

Track budget and expenses and monitor timelines and deliverables.

Support other “non-billable” activities as needed (e.g. draft and co-sign proposals; informal mentoring of junior staff; develop relations with colleagues within the company).

Travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge/experience of cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses
  • Practical knowledge of research project implementation
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling
  • Strong quantitative skills, with solid understanding of statistics
  • Knowledge of pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, literature review principles desirable

Education and Experience

  • Relevant PhD or Masters (e.g., Economics, Epidemiology, Public Health)
  • PhD or Masters in other fields will be considered, with some relevant experience
  • Or Bachelors with strong relevant experience

Language Skills

  • Competent in written and spoken English.

Computer Skills

MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel; ability to use Access with interface provided (may learn ARENA).
