Full-Time Product Leader – Product Management and Development

Job Description

The Product Leader, Debit Product Management, will be responsible for managing the debit products within Hungarian cluster in the HGEM region (focusing on Hungary). The person will have divisional responsibility for innovation and product development in the market/s allocated to the role and will be accountable for the go to market strategy and commercialization of the MasterCard debit products. He/she must provide strategic guidance and maintain the product roadmap, keeping a perspective on both short term goals and long term objectives. He/she must have a strong understanding of how technology integrates with the business side and be experienced in understanding the wider payments industry and competitive challenges.
The role will also require the individual to take a leadership role for at least one pan-European product development initiative, such as the World Beyond Cash program in Europe. The product leadership role requires the management of the initiative from idea creation through to implementation. This must be combined with excellent product marketing competency required to capture customer requirements for all regions and to translate technical based product and solutions offerings into appealing customer commercial products for deployment throughout Europe.
Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for debit related product development and management initiatives in the agreed market/s and providing frontline support.
• Define the market strategy, planning and support the go-to-market strategy for debit products in these markets.
• Have divisional responsibility for innovation and product development in these markets and will be accountable for the go to market strategy and commercialization of the MasterCard debit products.
• Provide strategic guidance and maintain the market/s product roadmap.
• Interact with senior management at both country level and within the broader Europe region and will be required to work closely with the rest of the Core Products Team in MasterCard.
• Partner with MasterCard regional management as well as sales and account teams on a regular basis including leading program kick off meetings, regular project calls and client feedback sessions.
• Be responsible for managing and coordinating at least one Pan-European product development initiative, supporting the key market launches and providing creative and programme leadership. This will also involve defining the strategic roadmap for HGEM, aligning with global strategy direction and defining “go-to-market” strategies and building sales messages and collateral.
• Be responsible for budget associated with products and markets and ensuring that forecasts are managed accurately and promptly.
• Ensure appropriate use of and compliance with the New Product Development/Go-To-Market (NPD/GTM) Process from concept through launch and utilize project management methodologies consistent with Global Product standards.
• Develop and present business cases supporting a new product concept, product enhancement and product implementations.
• Translate technical based product and solutions offerings into appealing customer commercial products for deployment throughout Europe.
• Define metrics and measurements to assess customer satisfaction.
• Educate Product Sales and Account Management teams on features, benefits and technical aspects of product offerings.
• Research new technologies and competitive products in the Region to develop additional product ideas and enhancements.
• Perform launch-related activities associated with new or highly customized product implementations, including marketing/communication and collateral.
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA strongly preferred.
Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 8-10 years experience in banking services, financial institutions, processors or regional/national networks with a well developed knowledge of the card business.
• Understanding of competitive offering and industry trends.
• Business acumen with the ability to create solutions that produce positive results for the customer and MasterCard.
• Ability to lead strategic product and market related discussions with the regional and product leadership teams.
• Deep understanding of the product development life cycle and product management principles.
• In-depth experience managing design and development of financial service products, including leading successful development and launch.
• Ability to develop, define and execute a business strategy to solve an existing business problem and/or open a new business opportunity.
• Ability to interact and navigate effectively across all organizational levels.
• Experience developing and managing department budgets.
• Extensive, proven project management, problem solving and planning skills with a demonstrated record of success managing multiple projects with external and internal clients simultaneously.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities/ initiatives in parallel according to agreed priorities.
• Proven track record of developing compelling business cases and obtaining required approvals and funding to proceed.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player in a highly matrixed environment across functions and regions.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
• Best-in-class negotiation and management skills.
• Self motivated and good team player.
• Have superior, demonstrated external client relationship management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. MS Project would be preferred.
• Must be a fluent English speaker – with another European language an advantage.
