This is unreal.
Welcome to the real world:
Junior programmer earns 70,000-100,000
Senior Mobile programmer earns 100,000-200,000 HUF
Senior Java/.NET/C++ business programmer earns 200,000-450,000 HUF
Over the 450,000 is extra high salary for just a programmer, but you can earn this if you are working in a bank.

Are YOU joking, guy : 70 000 HUF for a receptionnist ? How it comes there is no huge refugee camp then on Margit Island to host them each and every night regarding than the minimum you spend for a flat (all included) is 70 000 HUF (and I am optimist regarding the price of the heating in winter…). So tiring, ages I’ve been suffering from that hungarian song “We are so poor, we are just working to survive, nothing more”. Most of the hungarians I met those last past years were in a more comfortable situation than 80% of my relatives in Spain. I am shouting loud in Western Europe, now, not to cry too much on Eastern Europe, even more since I’ve learned that 2 of my unskilled friends were earning 200 000 HUF and 220 000 HUF, first for a customer service (call center) and the second, unskilled secretary (opening letter, making coffee), yes at Garay Ter. My sister is doing the same job in Madrid for 557 euros per month (and she considers herself lucky !), it’s 175 000 HUF !!! Do you have an idea about the cost of life in Budapest and Madrid ? I hope, yes. Well, anyway, “mindegy” as I love saying there, keep crying, keep complaigning, yes yes you are suffering a million time more than the rest of Europe, please stay bling so we, foreigners, can take and enjoy the wealth you don’t see !
Btw, thanks to the website for that good study !

You live out of the world!
We can’t find a junior Java programmer who is willing to come to work for less than 350 neetto average (about 500 gross)
Seniors take about double and we can’t find.

A receptionist earns 215,000 HUF. Where? Are you joking?
He earns 70,000-90,000 HUF. This salary list / 3 = real world. 🙂

The data clearly states GROSS. What the employee takes home is a VERY different story than what they cost a company. And this report is for companies, which is why Gross figures are stated.

Might be a bit off-topic, does anyone hv any idea about the salary of a quant (quantitative analyst in investment banks) in Budapest?
Comment made by ilona on Sep 9th 2015 at 4:08 am:
I see some errors related to the English translation due to the translator not understanding the nuances of the language. However, one can overlook the very poor sentence structure because the jist of the information is still fairly clear. What i cannot overlook is having %ages indicated that in total add up to more than 100. The basis for using percentages is that 100 represents the total amount (in this case, population)and the segments for subgroups must add up to that total. What a very poor breakdown.
Comment made by Matthias Janeck on Sep 9th 2015 at 7:31 am:
Dear Ilona,
I cannot reproduce your comment regarding the ages because in the article there is nothing mentioned about the age. Please specify.
Regards
Comment made by Muhammad Shevchenko on Sep 10th 2015 at 2:03 pm:
I assume ‘%ages’ stands for ‘percentages’, makes sense that way. Also, you shouldn’t be misled by Ilona’s definition of the basis for using percentages. A person might have changed their job 7+ times, yet still looking for a new job at the same time. That one gets counted twice, thus making the sum totalling more than 100.

I work at home. work at my own servicedesk. Earn now, 125.000 netto every month. So not so bad. Easy and so trustble.

Hey, would you be willing to share info? I’ve just retired but not ready to be lulled into oblivion. Moved to the countryside so a servicedesk would also work for me. Thanks in advance.

Hungary is a wonder land for corporations, why?
– Cheap labor comparing with west Europe
– Smart and skilled labor
– Lots of immigrants, so its easier to outsource any service
– Politically is stable comparing with west Europe
– Part of EU
Magic for Outsourcing

Very useful info which confirms I am being paid the average for my current Helpdesk L1 role. I deal mostly with German customers. So may I assume that the helpdesk positions in the survey are primarily for European clientele. Hence 2 or 3 languages required but no extra paid for such skills.

What will be a reasonably wage for a position of Senior Microsoft System Engineer in Budapest? Will that amount be enough for me, my wife and daughter of 5 yo?
Anybody can tell me the minimum I should ask if the job position will be offered to me?
I will require to relocate in Budapest for this and I would be nice if anyone can even tell me the cost of living in Budapest for long time (I have been once on July 2017 for 5 days as a tourist)
Cheers everyone.
