Job Description

The Copenhagen Consensus Center is a think tank that publishes the smartest solutions for the world’s biggest problems by cost-benefit. Its studies are conducted by more than 100 economists from internationally renowned institutions, including seven Nobel Laureates, to advise policy-makers and philanthropists how to spend their money most effectively.
The Copenhagen Consensus Center is looking for an intern to join our office in Budapest. Under the supervision of the Digital and Social Media Manager, the intern will assist the project management team with both administrative and non-administrative activities according to the changing and daily needs of the current projects being run by the center. Interns will gain unique professional experience and exposure to the daily happenings of a non-profit organization.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)

Administrative: Provide administrative support for program managers including outreach and tracking of project activities such as data entry for various online databases and identifying potential partners and interested high-level officials.
Online: Compile weekly media hits by each of the center’s projects for online use, identifying and creating content for expanding social media presence, editing of text for online use and monitoring of Google AdWords (if applicable with experience).
Fundraising: Provide support for fundraising activities including researching and identifying potential donors.

Ideal Candidate

The right match for the internship will be an individual looking to gain firsthand experience working within a fast paced non-profit atmosphere. We’re looking for a highly motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills in addition to strong written and oral communication skills in English. The ideal candidate will be able to handle several projects simultaneously, follow direction and be proactive in prioritizing workload. This experience is ideal for students interested in working in non-profits organizations.

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Detail oriented, highly organized and creative thinker.
Strong Microsoft office computer skills including word, power point, and excel.
Experience and interest in online social media engagement.
Knowledge of Google AdWords and HTML is a plus.

Commitment

We are looking for an individual whom can commit a minimum of 20 hours per work for a minimum of 5 months. Both, the hourly and monthly commitment are up to negotiation, but priority will be given to candidates whom can commit to the minimum hourly and monthly commitment. The exact schedule is flexible, but preferred starting date is as soon as possible.

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship, but the center offers a travel and a monthly accommodation stipend to cover the cost of traveling to and lodging while in Budapest.
About the office

Our Budapest office is located in the heart of downtown, on Nador Utca close to Szabadsag Ter. We are a small and vibrant office, with an international team setting. The working language is English.

Task 1, locate the “latest news” section for each project and draft three tweets for one of the newest news articles from each project. Task 2, provide us with a one to two paragraph critique on the user friendliness of our websites (e.g. what do you like? what don’t you like? what ideas do you have to improve the web presence?). Task 3, find an organization who has recently granted funds, invested in or implemented a program that is in line with one of the top 5 solutions identified at the Third Copenhagen Consensus in 2012. Please provide a brief (half a page) description, with references, of the investment including dollar amount if available.
