The Cloudera Engineering Team is seeking a motivated, experienced Software Engineer for our Platform Distribution Team.  This team’s charter is to own the content and effectiveness of each release of the Cloudera Hadoop Ecosystem, as well as be responsible for driving incremental productivity on how we produce releases.  This team will be led independently out of Cloudera Hungary working on a core engineering investment for Cloudera.

Responsibilities involve horizontally-oriented development across the Hadoop ecosystem including supporting new platform versions, extending to the Cloud, and implementing integrations between open source components.  In addition, the role includes investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving escalated issues pertaining to Cloudera’s Hadoop products.

The candidate will also be responsible for the implementation of enhancements in the product that improve the customer experience. The role requires an engineer with strong debugging and problem analysis skills who can rapidly respond to the demands of Enterprise customers.

Engineering Experience and Skills:

• BS/CS, MS/CS or equivalent
• 5+ years of general software development experience – Experience with databases/datastores a plus
• 2+ years years relevant Java/C++ based system software industry experience
• Experience in Java/C++ development/debugging and multithreading programming
• Experience in addressing scale and performance problems
• Software development experience with a highly-scalable, distributed, large multi-node environment
• Able to debug, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues reported by customers
• Experience in open source development and knowledge of Git, JIRA and Jenkins etc
• Solid interpersonal skills conducive to a distributed team environment
• Able to work independently on multiple tasks
• Self-driven & motivated, with a strong work ethic and a passion for problem solving.
• Knowledge of Hadoop and its ecosystem a plus
• Familiarity with RDBMS internals, JDBC and SQL is a plus
• Experience with compilers is a plus
