Part-Time Speech Collection Participant

Job Description

In this task, Appen is collecting speech data to improve the accuracy of speech recognition system in perform voice searches of a social media platform. Using your smartphone and personal Facebook account, you will create and record English commands you would say to a social media platform to pull up popular Event, People, and Places and Pages. This can be things such as:

  • Command Example #1
  • Searching for a friend on Facebook – Search for John Smith
  • Command Example #2
  • Search a place  - Nearest Nail salon near me

There are a total of 6 scenarios of how people would search for content on social media. You are encouraged to be creative (also realistic) in your recordings as possible.

All data collected will be used to train and develop artificial intelligence algorithms behind voice recognition technologies.

There is a total 150 items, which will take approx. 1.5 hours in total to complete. You can either complete all items in one go or complete a group of items each day.

Please Note:  For this project, we will have to activate the voice search feature on your Facebook account that you have provided to perform the task. It may take 8-12 hours for the voice search tool to become enabled on your Facebook account, and once it appears you may directly start recording.

Incentive Note: This task is paid at task rate not hourly rate. The payment rate you see on the right is for full completion of the task.
