Job Description
Varian’s Enterprise Team Foundation Server Windows Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Collaboration Applications, offers a powerful opportunity to design and deliver the infrastructure supporting the software engineering tools and technologies roadmap and strategy.

Architecture Responsibilities:
Varian is growing the centralization and standardization of our global engineering strategy and supportability of their tools (ALM) technologies. This position will work with all parties to define the business solutions, architecture and project priorities. The person in this role will also will be looked to for best practices, foundational technical architecture (NetApp, VMware, Windows, etc.), and participate in process improvements. This position will engage with business and IT teams to create a robust and high performing environment to meet software engineering’s global requirements.
PROJECT Responsibilities:
This position is expected to lead projects that incorporate business needs into the overall IT infrastructure and forge integration with surrounding technologies (Active Directory, SharePoint, Messaging, etc.).
OPERATIONAL Responsibilities:
The engineer will need to plan for supportability of the environments and fold the support into the company’s off shore monitoring and datacenter operations teams. Success will depend on the engineer’s cooperation and collaboration skills in addition to the core technical skills.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science/Engineering
- Several years’ experience in enterprise organizations and systems implementations, including at least 3 years working on engineering applications or organizations with significant engineering organizations.
- A solid understanding of Microsoft tools and application environments, TFS, SharePoint, and supportive infrastructures (storage, virtualization, and network technologies)
- Multiple full life cycle large project implementations
- Practical hands on experience/knowledge of Microsoft TFS and SharePoint solutions
- Expertise in developing, deploying and supporting enterprise application/services on Microsoft Technology and three tier application/system designs
- 3+ years of IT experience in architecting and deploying Microsoft enterprise solutions
- 4+ years of experience in Microsoft server management, support, and performance optimization
- Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions
- Ability to work in a team and motivate others
- Strong communication, organization, problem solving and diagnostics skills
- Proven ability to transfer knowledge and stay aware of current trends and technical advancements
